My just and I decided to go to Montano's for dinner on a Friday night. A friend also joined us so it was a party of 3.
Our entrees arrived and everything was great. Fresh, hot and beautifully presented but the portion size very underwhelming.
There was about a 10 minute wait which I felt was very short for a Friday night dinner. We were seated rather quickly and Jules was our server. Jules greeted us and knowledgeable in her job, promptly without hesitation, went over the featured specials.
this place was wonderful. both my daughter and i had great food and service. and eating the leftovers are the real test and they were great.
we were staying in no. truro and the motel owner suggested this place. i am from new haven area where italian restaurants are famous.
We placed an order for the crab cakes appetizers however, we never received our crab cakes.
We love dining at Montano's. Tonight I had their homemade basil and ricotta ravioli. I made a special request and replaced their delicious marinara sauce with the chef's spicy sausage ragu to top the ravioli. Yum! And, they are nice enough to split a salad for us because we don't eat meals as large as the ones that are served. Of course, I brought home ravioli in a to-go box.
Overall, I could only do 2 stars because at the end when we were tallying up the bill and getting it settled, we all 3 requested more drink refills but those never came either. The entire meal I was served only a single glass of soda and for someone who is a very heavy soda drinker, that is simply terrible service. Jules is very good at her profession, great attitude, and very knowledgeable about the menu. But had she been extremely rude and was running drinks quicker than I could drink, this would have been a 5 star rating.
Food is great. I had wild boar ragu on pasta, my wife had crab stuffed flounder. Both were wonderful. If I had to complain about something, it would be that they don't have a dark rum that's not spiced, such as Gosling's or even Bacardi Black. But I run into that often in restaurants, so it's not a big deal. We went to Montano's twice, so that says a lot about the place.
We also ordered desserts. They were very good and, unlike the main course, portion size was nicely ample.
Very enjoyable restaurant and reasonably priced for Provincetown. Very friendly staff, good service. The food is old fashioned family-style Italian cooking. The pizza is very good. This is a great place for family dining and unusually for Provincetown, there's plenty of parking.
